Following the remodelling of our Orthopaedic services, we have a fantastic opportunity for applications for 4 substantive consultants to join our team. We are looking to recruit consultants specialising in Upper Limb, Lower Limb and Hand Wrist.

The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust provides both elective and trauma services across 2 sites and operates a busy and varied service.

The successful applicants will provide, along with the existing Team, the effective delivery of both Trauma and Elective services.

The post-holder will be expected to take a full share in the provision of an emergency service, providing adult and paediatric trauma care.

The Trust has a reputation for providing high-quality well-structured care in a friendly and supportive environment.

We are looking for dynamic colleagues with enthusiasm and leadership qualities. It is essential you have full GMC Registration and be included on the Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of CCT/CESR at the time of interview. In your role, you will have the opportunity to deal with a varied and challenging range of elective and trauma cases every year and participate in the general trauma 1 in 10 on-call rota. Our growing team provides a broad spectrum of general Orthopaedic services with various sub-specialty interests.

We have an active teaching programme within the Orthopaedic directorate and all Consultants are expected to participate in the teaching of medical students and contribute to the surgical teaching programme for junior doctors.

The successful applicant will ideally have previous sub-specialty level experience in hand and Wrist surgery.
