We have miles of unspoilt coastline on our doorstep, attractive commuter towns, picturesque villages and stunning countryside all within easy reach. Excellent transport links mean the vibrant, historic city of Liverpool is only a short journey away. Shops, bars, restaurants, museums, galleries, a World Heritage listed waterfront and, of course, two Premiership football teams makes this a destination for travellers from across the world.

The University of Liverpool has awarded us the status of University Clinical Education Centre in recognition of the high standard of training provided for students on placement to the Trust.

We pride ourselves in providing safe, clean and friendly care, and recruit to our SCOPE values. We also offer a range of family friendly options to staff.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust invites applications from dynamic and well-motivated individuals for 2 LAS ST3+ posts in Orthopaedics. Based across both sites, the posts will commence in August 2018, initially for 6 months until February 2019, but there is a possibility of extension at that stage.

Southport and Ormskirk hospital is a busy DGH which offers broad orthopaedic experience across the specialty. You will be the registrar for one consultant within the firm with an expectation that you will participate in all the routine work for that consultant, including fracture clinic, elective clinic and elective and trauma operating lists. You will participate in the middle grade on call rota which is a 1 in 8 on call (non resident on call).

You will join a team led by a young and dynamic group of 6 Orthopaedics consultants (soon to be 10) who believe in delivering safe, high quality and timely patient care.

Please note that this post does not carry Postgraduate Dean's approval of training recognition. However, support for study leave will be given and participation in research and audit activities is strongly encouraged. Although this post is not recognised for training, it provides excellent experience as a Specialty Registrar/ST3 at a busy, friendly District General Hospital. You will be well supported by senior colleagues during your tenure with us, to allow you to develop you clinical and operative skills.
