Main duties of the job
We are recruiting two substantive posts and welcome your application. We are exploring the option for one post to be a joint appointment with Liverpool University Foundation Trust. Please get in touch if this is of interest to you.
Our on call service is under review; currently on call duties are included, to cover the Acute Referral Clinic from 17:00 to 21:00 during weekdays and 09:00 to 21:00 at the weekend.
Our outpatient clinics take place at both Southport DGH and Ormskirk DGH and are situated within the main hospital buildings in dedicated specialised units. The Ophthalmology service has a well-equipped outpatient department, which runs general ophthalmology and emergency clinics as well as specialist clinics including paediatric ophthalmology, glaucoma, and oculoplastic. The Trust is currently in the process of developing a medical retina service and virtual glaucoma service.

The successful candidate should be willing to integrate into an established and supportive Ophthalmology department and to meet the challenges involved, as well as help develop and evolve the services.
All applicants must be MB ChB or evidence of equivalent qualification and hold GMC registration and licenced to practice.
You will be joining an enthusiastic Ophthalmology team. The department of Ophthalmology consists of 2 Consultants, 6 Associate Specialists / Specialty Doctors, 1 Mersey Regional ST.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MB ChB or evidence of equivalent qualification
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC), and licenced to practice
- Completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- At least 12 months knowledge and experience of Ophthalmology
