Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic doctor to work at F2/CT1/2 level in General Surgery at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals.

This is a post suitable for an enthusiastic doctor looking to progress their career in General Surgery. We have had past doctors use this post as a stepping stone as part of their career. As a junior member of the department, you will be guided by experienced and approachable Associate Specialists and Consultants. Your duties will encompass both acute and elective general surgery over 2 hospital sites. This will include on call responsibilities, the documentation and day to day care of patients, attendance at ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, theatres and clinic.

The successful candidate will be required to work across site.

The post is full- time, commencing as soon as possible. The duties of this post include participating in a 1:8 on call rota.

Applicants should have full GMC Registration and a License to Practice and have worked at F2 level or equivalent. Experience of working in General Surgery is desirable.

This role may be suitable for non-UK or non-EEA job applicants wishing to apply for Home Office Tier 2 sponsorship
