Working for Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust offers all the benefits of coast and country living with the convenience of big city life.

We have miles of unspoilt coastline on our doorstep, attractive commuter towns, picturesque villages and stunning countryside all within easy reach. Excellent transport links mean the vibrant, historic city of Liverpool is only a short journey away. Shops, bars, restaurants, museums, galleries, a World Heritage listed waterfront and, of course, two Premiership football teams makes this a destination for travellers from across the world.

The University of Liverpool has awarded us the status of University Clinical Education Centre in recognition of the high standard of training provided for students on placement to the Trust.

We pride ourselves in providing safe, clean and friendly care, and recruit to our SCOPE values. We also offer a range of family friendly options to staff.

Please note that all successful applicants to non-medical positions will be subject to a six-month probationary period.

Job overview

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual who wants to make a real difference to our patients and staff, to join our team at Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust as an Urgent Care Matron.

We are seeking an inspirational, influential leader who is confident, dynamic, visible and has significant experience working at a senior level in healthcare.

The successful candidate must be a role model demonstrating the Trust values, who will be able to lead clinically and strategically to ensure the delivery of the best possible care to our particularly elderly population.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join the team of Matrons and will form part of the late and weekend matron rota, providing senior clinical support to the site and working closely with the on-call managers, clinical coordinators and on-site teams. With a new leadership team in the Urgent Care Clinical Business Unit, this is a really exciting time and any aspiring candidates are welcomed to contact Meg Langley (Head of Nursing - Urgent Care) to discuss the opportunity further.

Working for our organisation

This role presents the opportunity to join the senior team in urgent care, who are committed to continuously improving, adapting and trialling new innovative workforce and clinical models, to deliver a positive environment in which our staff can flourish and fundamentally to ensure excellent patient experience and outstanding care. The individual will work predominantly in medicine, joining the clinical director and directorate manager to lead the directorate and must therefore have extensive experience in quality improvement and governance, and will be expected to embrace and fulfil the modern matron roles and responsibilities.
