Working for Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust offers all the benefits of coast and country living with the convenience of big city life.
We have miles of unspoilt coastline on our doorstep, attractive commuter towns, picturesque villages and stunning countryside all within easy reach. Excellent transport links mean the vibrant, historic city of Liverpool is only a short journey away. Shops, bars, restaurants, museums, galleries, a World Heritage listed waterfront and, of course, two Premiership football teams makes this a destination for travellers from across the world.
The University of Liverpool has awarded us the status of University Clinical Education Centre in recognition of the high standard of training provided for students on placement to the Trust.
We pride ourselves in providing safe, clean and friendly care, and recruit to our SCOPE values. We also offer a range of family friendly options to staff. You can see what some of our staff have to say about working with us and learn more about our area and what we do by clicking on the youtube videos in the 'further links' section.
Please note that all successful applicants to non-medical positions will be subject to a six-month probationary period.
We are looking for a proactive and dynamic Band 5 Registered Nurses who are committed to personal professional development to join our team on the Stroke Unit. The successful candidate will need to be committed to providing a high standard of patient care and will work alongside other members of our team to achieve a high standard in line with the National Stroke Guidelines and Stroke Strategy.
The Acute Stroke Unit is a 22 bedded ward. We currently offer acute and rehabilitation care for all Stroke admissions. We aim to provide individualised care to all our patients, working closely with our Stroke Specialist nurses to provide 24 hour specialist care. Our nurses here liaise with a wide variety of the multi-disciplinary team and practitioners, this helps to increase the nurse’s knowledge and provide a high standard of patient centered care.
There are many opportunities on the Acute Stroke Unit for enthusiastic, highly motivated registered nurses, both for newly qualified and experienced nurses, who would enjoy the opportunity to develop high standards of person-centred care.
We offer multi-disciplinary Specialist Stroke training within the Stroke unit. with the recent addition of a practice facilitator we encourage staff to develop their knowledge by supporting them in courses to encourage continual professional development to support revalidation
