Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
The 51-bedded North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre (located within Southport District General Hospital) provides access to a highly knowledgeable multi-professional rehabilitation team & caters for patients with all levels of spinal cord injury. In addition, The Centre is internationally recognised for the care of people who have sustained a spinal cord injury affecting their respiratory muscle function, leading to dependency on secretion management & ventilator support. The Centre is commissioned to provide care for patients from a catchment population of up to 12.5 million throughout the North West of England, North Wales & the Midlands & within this service there is a dedicated Weaning & Ventilation team who support patients ongoing respiratory needs.
The senior Nursing team at the Centre are excited to be introducing a new Band 4 role of Nursing Associate within the department to help support the multi-professional team (MPT) in continuing to improve the patient experience. This role will focus on the long term rehabilitation & re-integration for patients with higher level spinal cord injury, including tracheostomy & / or long term ventilatory needs.
Are you about to qualify as a Nursing Associate with a Level 5 Foundation Degree & looking for a new challenge with an opportunity to help develop & establish this role within the field of spinal cord injury? If so, we are keen to recruit enthusiastic, forward thinking, dynamic & motivated personnel to join our team. The Nursing Associate role is designed to bridge the gap between that of the Registered Nurse and Health Care Support workers & successful candidate/s will work alongside all members of the MPT in order to achieve delivery of high quality evidence-based patient-centred care; maintain high care delivery standards & efficient, safe management of patients at the regional Centre.
If you have successfully completed the Nursing Associate trainee programme & would like to explore this opportunity further & have a passion for developing & improving services, we want to hear from you. You will receive a period of local induction & undertake a preceptorship programme specifically designed to support this new role.
This post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (with barred list for Adults and Children’s disclosure).
