Specialist Optometrist
26.25 hours per week

Applications are invited from experienced Optometrists.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated band 7 Specialist Optometrist with a degree in Optometry and registration with the General Optical Council. The post is split site with clinics held at Southport District General hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. You will be working closely with the Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Nurses, Ophthalmic Technicians, and admin and clerical staff.

The core Optometry service includes contact lens, paediatric & adult refraction and low vision clinics. The post holder will also participate in the Diabetic eye screening service which will include slit lamp clinics and grading of retinal images and will support the retinal screener/graders employed for the Diabetic eye service.

The post holder will also participate in regular audit and teaching of trainees in Ophthalmology, pre-registration Optometrists, student Nurses and Health Care Professionals. The department is a recognised clinical placement for undergraduate Orthoptic students from The University of Liverpool.
