Stroke/Rehab Therapy Service
Secondment/Fixed Term - 6 months
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
Would you like the opportunity to work in and be part of the development of a new Early Supported Discharge Service for Stroke patients in the Southport & Formby areas?
We are in the process of recruiting to a series of 3 x 6 month Secondments/Fixed Term Contracts as part of this initiative. If there are insufficient applicants the duration of the Secondments/Fixed Term Contracts may be extended.
The successful applicants will work as part of the Stroke Therapy Team which is based in The Stroke Unit at Southport & Formby District General Hospital. Currently the team provide assessment and rehabilitation of stroke patients in the inpatient phase but we are excited that the service will now be extended to provide early supported discharge in the community.
The successful applicants will be highly motivated and self driven and have experience of working within this specialism at senior level. As highly autonomous practitioners, the post holders will provide an efficient and high quality occupational therapy service across the specialist area, provide education and training and liaise with colleagues across therapy services and the multi-disciplinary team. They will also be integral in the development of the ESD service with support from the Clinical Therapy Manager and Team Leads.
The post holders will be expected to work flexibly to cross-cover all clinical areas within the specialism ensuring quality patient care. This post supports the weekend working agenda and may include participation in weekend/Bank Holiday rotas.
This post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (with barred list for Adults disclosure)
