Job overview
The post provides a strategic lead for clinical services and the development of patient centred care throughout the Medicine and Emergency Care Clinical Business Unit (CBU) to ensure provision of high quality and responsive service for patients, their carers, families, and Trust employees. The post holder will be clinically accountable to the Trust for the delivery and standards of clinical care across the range of their teams and services.
The post holder is the delegated service lead for quality, safety and patient experience, ensuring robust arrangements are in place to support clinical governance activities including risk management and compliance with internal and external governance processes, quality contracts and best clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for professional and operational leadership of Nursing and AHP services within the CBU, including devising, implementing and reviewing strategies for the development of clinical practice, education, and identifying then addressing issues to provide assurance at an executive level.
The post holder is the delegated lead for safety, quality and patient experience, responsible for development and application of systems, control processes and risk management arrangements that ensure full compliance with internal and external governance procedures and to benchmark against best practice requirements. The post holder takes an active lead in Trust, local and national projects to both promote and develop clinical non-medical practice at the Trust.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
