Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

We are looking to recruit highly motivated, enthusiastic people to band 5 staff nurse vacancies.
Southport Critical Care Unit is a 15 bedded unit comprising of: 4 CCU, 6 HDU and 5 ITU beds. We offer support for multi organ failure and have invested in high performance technology and equipment to help with medical management and rehabilitation of critically ill patients .
We have a robust programme of staff development starting with a supernumerary period and then working through the Step 1, 2, 3 and 4 National Critical Care Competency Framework. There are opportunities for development within each band of staff including extended roles, secondments and of course access to the Critical Care course. Training is provided in house including bespoke clinical skills days and simulation which run on a monthly basis and we have close links with the Medical Education Centre. There is a full time practice educator employed to support this development.
We always strive to provide highest standard of nursing care and work closely with both medical teams and other HCPs both on our unit and in the wider Trust to ensure the very best outcomes for our patients.
