Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to work as a Team Leader for 3 months supporting the Medical and Surgical Therapy Team.  Must have experience working in  acute hospital therapy teams and / or specialist services.

You would be responsible for managing an extremely dynamic and hardworking multi profession team (Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists taking responsibility for the day to day management of the service. The post holder will:-

•Lead service delivery and make changes where needed to ensure smooth timely delivery of services across service area.
•Support supervision across the team 
•Work closely with discharge planning team, matrons and ward staff to ensure patients are assessed in a timely manner ensuring safe discharge home.
•Have exceptional leadership skills, and a clear appreciation of national agendas and experience in delivering organisational change.
•Be an effective member of the Multi-disciplinary team communicating with staff of all levels in order to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
•Contribute to and lead some aspects of service development and creation of service protocols within the service area
•Have a degree or equivalent in the Therapy Profession.
•Be HCPC registered
•Be able to meet the travel requirements of the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Senior Therapist to use their skills and expertise to lead the Medical and Surgical Therapy team based at Southport Hospital.
