Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton
The Department sees approximately 55,000 patients per year who present with a variety of health care needs. The learning and development opportunities are vast. We consider the Department to be an innovative and creative environment for those nurses pursuing a career in A&E nursing. Our team is multi-disciplinary and includes ENP’s, Mental Health Liaison, Occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a band 6 Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse/ Patient Safety Nurse to our current establishment in Southport Accident & Emergency. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the team to deliver patient focused care within our busy department and provide visible leadership.
The successful candidate will process leadership abilities, enthusiasm and motivation to lead the team, with a patient centered approach to delivering excellent nursing care and promote patient experience.
Excellent clinical knowledge and skills are required with high level of communication skills. Previous Accident and Emergency experience is desirable.
- Be a Registered nurse with relevant A&E experience
- Previous A&E experience essential
- Clinical background within A&E setting
- Ability to work as part of a strong team
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to provide leadership within the team and coordinate shifts in the department.
