Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
Applications are invited to join a friendly and progressive paediatric team as a substantive paediatric consultant within Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals NHS Trust. The department strives to improve healthcare of infants, children and young people in the region. Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills delivered with compassion. In return you will be supported and valued for the skills and knowledge you bring to the team working alongside an enthusiastic and forward thinking Service Director, management and administrative team.
The post is full time and the successful candidate with contribute to 1 in 7 on-call rota which includes general Paediatrics and Level 2 Neonatal Unit. Special interests and drive for Quality improvement will be supported. Apart from paediatric trainees the department also includes speciality doctors and advanced paediatric nurse practitioners.
The Trust provides a range of local hospital services across its two main sites at Southport and Ormskirk including Supra Regional Spinal Injuries Unit. The Trust is proud to have been awarded University Clinical Education Centre by the University of Liverpool in recognition of the high standards of training provided for students on placements with the Trust.
Paediatric services are based at Ormskirk District General Hospital in a newly built Paediatric Department. The Department comprises a dedicated Children's Accident & Emergency Department with an Assessment Bay, in-patient ward and a day case unit including facilities for adolescent, and a designated modern Paediatric Outpatient Department at Ormskirk Hospital, delivering a range of general and speciality clinics.
All applicants must be either on the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining their CCT award at the time of interview.
