Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a  Band 3 Medical HR Administrator on a 6 month fixed term contract. The opportunity is also available as a secondment and would be ideal for someone looking to gain experience of Medical HR process such as doctors in training.

The successful candidate will be joining a well established, supportive Medical HR team at an important time with amendments to trainee doctors terms and conditions being implemented over the coming months. There will be a real opportunity to play a role in the implementation of these amendments as well as shape and develop processes around Clinical Attachments.

Previous Medical Staffing/Medical HR and or HR/Recruitment experience in the NHS would be a bonus but not essential.  

The position is based at Ormskirk Hospital, with occasional requirement to attend meetings or provide cover at Southport Hospital.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Liaise closely with Clinical Business Units, Medical Education, Guardian of Safe Working, Lead Employer and Health Education North West (HENW) around the employment/terms and conditions for doctors and dentists.
  • Support doctors and managers with queries relating to a number of different areas.
  • Manage a high volume of administration tasks and telephone queries from managers and staff.  
  • Play a key role in the intake of trainee doctors on rotation from HENW, arranging smooth on-boarding process and induction.
  • Have a keen eye for detail and ability to work well under pressure.  
  • Have previous experience of working to strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate Trust and NHS values.
