Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Sonographers with good communication skills to join our friendly, flexible multi-disciplinary team within the Main Ultrasound Department, Antenatal Department, Fetal Medicine and Early Pregnancy Assessment Units at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals NHS Trust. There are ultrasound departments on both sites and cross-site working is required.
Services provided on the Southport and Formby District General Hospital site include major Surgery, acute Orthopaedics, acute Elderly care, CCU/ ITU, Urology, 24 hour Adult Accident and Emergency services and acute admissions for Medicine and Surgery. Services provided on the Ormskirk District General Hospital site include Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Neonatal Unit, planned Orthopaedics, Endoscopy procedures, Dental, Ophthalmic, ENT and Rehabilitation services.
The successful applicant will be required to perform and report on Ultrasound examinations to a high standard as per departmental protocols encompassing general, small parts, paediatrics, obstetric and gynaecological and Doppler leg venography.
We value team work and are committed to training and development. We are actively involved in the Ultrasound training of Student Sonographers.
Applicants must be HCPC registered and hold the DMU or PGD.
NT accreditation with appropriate DQASS accreditation would be an advantage but is not essential as the applicant would be supported through training.
We have a range of new GE equipment, the majority being Voluson E10, Voluson Expert E8 and Logiq S8 and the Department operates a rolling 5 year replacement programme.
