Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and dynamic Physiotherapist to join Southport & Ormskirk District General Hospital as a Band 6 Physiotherapist within Medicine and Surgery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Physiotherapist to enhance their clinical and leadership skills, within a supportive multi-disciplinary team and also to continue to expand upon their clinical skills within this core speciality. 

Main duties of the job

Assess and treat own caseload of patients within a variety of settings, applicable to the clinical area. 

Undertakes training inclusive of audit and evaluation. To be involved in the training and supervision of student Physiotherapists.

To work as an independent practitioner as part of a wider MDT, in the assessment and management of complex patients, utilising clinical reasoning and a variety of evidence-based, expert skills.

To ensure a regular review of the caseload within a patient centred goal setting model and make decisions regarding own capacity against patient complexity and prioritising as appropriate. 

To employ excellent communication skill to enable patients, families and carers to understand and engage in intervention and demonstrate skills in motivating patients. 

To provide leadership, supervision and training to band 5 staff and therapy assistants.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience and skills relevant to this post
  • HCPC Registration
  • Relevant post graduate CPD to this clinical speciality
  • Qualified Physiotherapist or equivalent

Teaching / Training

Essential criteria
  • Teaching / training for student support demonstrated
  • Clinical Educators course / or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical Leadership experience demonstrated

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with computer system such as (excel/word/outlook)
  • Experience of working in a wide range of clinical settings with evidence of understanding the role within the NHS
Desirable criteria
  • NHS Computer systems experience such as Medway
  • UK driving license and access to own vehicle
